Malegra FXT (generic name: sildenafil citrate and fluoxetine) is a combination of sildenafil citrate and fluoxetine, a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). Antidepressants in the SSRI class, including fluoxetine, have long been used without indication to treat premature ejaculation. Delayed orgasm is a well known effect of these drugs. It has been shown that fluoxetine in combination with sildenafil citrate is more effective at delaying ejaculation and providing sexual satisfaction than fluoxetine alone.
Usually, a single dose before having sex is enough to achieve satisfactory sexual intercourse. The product is relatively new and became available in early 2010. The pills contain a combination of sildenafil citrate, either 100 mg and 40 mg of fluoxetine or 100 mg of sildenafil citrate and 40 mg fluoxetine.
